During the early Salmon season (Late August, September) one of our favorite techniques is by far is casting crankbaits! (Thundersticks) Mint Silver King Salmon that have just arrived from Lake Michigan absolutely crush these lures!
They just about rip the rod out of your hands!

Casting lures in the lower portions of the Pere Marquette river and the lower Manistee River can be incredible. These salmon are silver, fresh from the lake, and eager to bite!

Later in the season, Salmon also offer great sport for the fly fisher. They come into the Muskegon, Pere Marquette, and Manistee rivers in great numbers and hit flies well. They fight hard and the battle on a 9 weight fly rod or spinning tackle is absolutely amazing!

We offer guide trips first on the lower Pere Marquette and Manistee River. Peak times for the PM and Manistee are Aug 15th through Oct 15th. Peak times for salmon on the Muskegon river are Oct 5th through November 5th.
